The Sundays On The Hill Concert Series committee is so delighted that we are able to offer a concert series again after the COVID pandemic changed all of our lives in so many ways. We hope that we will be seeing many familiar faces this summer and look forward to meeting many new music supporters. Stay tuned for any regulations necessary for the safety of all.
The Old Parish Church is an historic structure. The decision to erect a meeting house was made at Weston’s second Town Meeting. Construction of the building began in 1816 and was completed in 1832. It’s appearance today is little changed from the time of its construction, the only significant alteration being the replacement of a simple dome over the doorway with today’s clock tower.
For over 100 years (1866-1972), the Old Parish Church also served as Weston’s Town Hall, at which time a second floor was installed at balcony level and has since been removed.
Old Parish Church is a family-oriented village institution in the timeless style of rural New England community churches. Services are held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the Old Parish Church reflects a variety of denominational traditions and enjoys a diverse, informal and welcoming congregation.

Sundays on the Hill was organized in 1997 as First Sundays. It was a joint venture of the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company (spearheaded by Steve Stetler) and the Weston Community Church (spearheaded by Helen Burdick.) It was promoted as “A Series of Chamber Music Concerts and Dramatic Readings at the Church on the Hill, Weston, Vermont.”
In 2001, First Sundays name was changed to Sundays on the Hill and became independent from the organizing partners. The group promoted itself as “A Series of Concerts featuring Vermont’s Finest Musicians.” Since 2001, the group has been run by an independent all volunteer board. … The inaugural concert on June 29, 1997 was performed by a string quartet from Kinhaven Music School and the season closed with a performance of the Green Mountain Singers (known today as Counterpoint.) Over the past 25 years more than 140 concerts have been presented. Today the volunteer board members selflessly organize and support all aspects of the concert series. The initial admission charge was $5 with children admitted free and that charge still continues this 26th year through the support of patrons and generous donations.
